Legend of the World Shaper
In the beginning, there was only the void. There was no day, no night, and time stood still in vacuous emptiness. Then, from a realm other than our own, a great being arrived. This being was The World Shaper, the creator. The World Shaper, unaccustomed to the vacuum, began to create. It swan through the void, and in its wake, the first stars took form. However, the stars alone were not enough for the World Shaper. He then created the planets, which were no more than masses of energy and elements. The World Shaper traversed his creation for eons, and realized that something was missing. In an effort to discover what was missing, he spoke the First Words, the name of our world, Terca Lumires. The land, seas, and sky sky appeared on Terca Lumires, yet the World Shaper was unsatisfied. Though the seas and lands of our world shifted and churned, they did so according to His will, and not their own. It was then that the World Shaper realized that the what was missing was a will other than his own. He then spawned the beasts of Terca Lumires. The creatures acted of their own accord, yet were not his equals.
Power, then. That was the answer. The World Shaper then created the First Race, the gods, and gave them dominion over the land, seas, and beasts of the world. However, the gods were content, as the lands and beasts of the world needed no intervention on their part. The Gods drifted in a dream like state. The World Shaper realized that conflict would wake the gods from their slumber, and thus created the races of men, elves, dwarves, orcs, and other intelligent beings. These creatures had greater will and intelligence than the beasts, but less power than the gods. The gods awoke from their dream and began to interfere with the races of men, often tormenting them and demanding tribute.
The World Shaper, seeing that the world was almost complete, saw fit to use the last of his powers, and offered unto men the gift of magic, allowing them to combat the gods. Magic gave the races of men the possibility of near limitless expansion, and allowed them to perform great feats beyond their normal ability. The races of men learned to share the gods dominion over nature, and lived prosperously on Terca Lumires since. Untold millennium passed, and societies rose, fell, and rose again. Then, one day in a town called Crosswinds a chance meeting began the journey to shape the world again.
